Margaret Slade Phelps, 71, a retired office manager, died Dec. 8, 1994, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Phelps was born in Bertie County, N.C., and was retired from Pilot Life Insurance after 20 years. She was a member of Bethany Freewill Baptist Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include her husband, Leslie C. Pelps; two sons, Leslie C. Phelps Jr. of Tyler, Texas, and Michael P. Phelps of Norfolk; her mother, Sarah Harden Slade of Virginia Beach; a brother, Harvey K. Slade of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Bethany Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. Larry Davis. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
