William M. Nixon, 74, of the first block of Fiske St., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, 8th of December, in Portsmouth.
He was born in Stumpy Point, N.C., and was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Chesapeake. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard and was also a retired plumber with John D. Lucy Plumbing & Heating. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth E. Nixon; two daughters, Becky Sue Nixon and Gloria H. Adams, both of Virginia Beach; a son, Terry Wayne Nixon of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Edna Moore of Chesapeake, Beatrice Cheek of Norfolk and Exie D. Russell of Massachusetts; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Temple Baptist Church by the Rev. Allen L. Dooley. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
