My wife and I are second-year season subscribers to the ``Broadway at Chrysler Hall'' series. Performances in 1993-94 were reasonably entertaining and of good quality, but the 1994-95 season is off to a bad beginning. Both ``A Chorus Line'' and ``South Pacific'' were mediocre.
The singers, dancers and pit orchestras were amateurish. The sets were something out of a pawn shop, and the massive sound systems, installed to overcome the very bad acoustics of Chrysler Hall, added little to the attractiveness of the productions.
We expect a flop every now and then - even Broadway has them. We did not expect to sign up for a series of flops, and we are wondering what the remainder of the season will bring.
