Mildred Meyer Lindsay, 89, of the 2100 block of Cedar Road died Saturday at her residence.
Mrs. Lindsay was born in Peoria, Illinois, and was the daughter of the late Henry and Mabel Stein Meyer. She was the widow of Lisle A. Lindsay. Mrs. Lindsay was a graduate of William and Mary College, Class of 1927 and taught at Craddock High School and Deep Creek High School. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church, Portsmouth and a member of the Deep Creek Senior Citizens. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and a charter member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Survivors include one son, Jonathan H. Lindsay of Chesapeake; two granddaughters, Theresa Lindsay Cross and Elizabeth Ann Lindsay, both of Chesapeake; three grandsons, Lisle A. Lindsay III of Farmington, New Mexico, and Jonathan H. Lindsay Jr. and Daniel Bray Lindsay, both of Chesapeake; one great granddaughter, Lindsay Elizabeth Cross of Chesapeake; and two nephews, Walter D. Meyer of Florida and Meyer Creesey of Portsmouth.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday at Cedar Grove Cemetery by the Rev. Brian Hobden.
The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge on Sunday from 7 - 8:30 p.m. and at other times at 2149 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.
