Mildred Meyer Lindsay, 89, of the 2100 block of Cedar Road, died Saturday at her residence.
Mrs. Lindsay was born in Peoria, Illinois, and was the daughter of the late Henry and Mabel Stein Meyer. She was the widow of Lisle A. Lindsay. Mrs. Lindsay was a graduate of William and Mary College, Class of 1927, and taught at Cradock High School and Deep Creek High School. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, and a member of the Deep Creek Senior Citizens. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and a charter member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Survivors include one son, Jonathan H. Lindsay of Chesapeake; two granddaughters, Theresa Lindsay Cross and Elizabeth Ann Lindsay, both of Chesapeake; three grandsons, Lisle A. Lindsay III of Farmington, New Mexico, and Jonathan H. Lindsay Jr. and Daniel Bray Lindsay, both of Chesapeake; one great-granddaughter, Lindsay Elizabeth Cross of Chesapeake; and two nephews, Walter D. Meyer of Florida and Myra Creesey of Portsmouth.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Portsmouth in Oak Grove Cemetery by the Rev. Brian Hobden.
Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, is in charge of arrangements. The family will be at 2149 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.
