Mr. Johnnie Monitier Wilkerson, of 15 North 25th St., died Saturday, Dec. 9, 1994, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Wilkerson was born in New Hanover County on Sept. 4, 1924, the son of the late William Adam and Minnie Lee Wilkerson, and was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Eva Sublusky Wilkerson in 1993 and a foster brother, Carl Millinor, in 1993.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Also was a member of Wilmington Lodge No. 319 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Arab Shrine Club, Elks Club No. 532, American Legion Post 10 and VFW Post No. 2573. Mr. Wilkerson served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was retired as a superintendent with the Bechtell Corporation.
Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Yvonne Corbett of Wilmington, Ms. Lenore Tripp of New York City, Mrs. Elizabeth Hegele of Summerville, S.C., Mrs. Hildred McLain of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Trifoli, John Corbett, Michael McLain, Eva Morelock, Alicia Morelock, John Hegele, and Ellis Hegele; a foster brother, Willie Elwood ``Buddy'' Millinor and a niece and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel by the Rev. Wilburn Teachey. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, with full masonic rites accorded by Wilmington Lodge No. 319 A.F. & A.M. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, and at other times will be at their residence.
The family appreciates the support given to our father, grandfather, brother and uncle during his illness by his many friends.
