Herbert Duke Lawrence Jr., 66, died Dec. 10, 1994, in his home.
Mr. Lawrence was born in Norfolk and was second assistant with Marine Engineers Beneficials Association, with whom he worked from the late 1960s until his retirement in August 1991. He had formerly worked with the Norfolk Police Department. He had been a member of Seafarers International Union since 1956. He was the son of the late Herbert Duke Lawrence Sr. and the late Catherine H. Lawrence.
Survivors include his wife, Frances V. Lawrence; four sons, Robert D. Lawrence of Norfolk, Ronald D. Lawrence, Warren K. Lawrence and Tracy E. Lawrence, all of Virginia Beach; a sister, Katherine L. Lille of Norfolk; and a granddaughter, Katherine Marie Lawrence of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
