Zinon Hazimarty, 91, died Dec. 12, 1994, in Heritage Care Center, Mason City, Iowa.
Mr. Hazimarty was born Feb. 20, 1903 at Cyprus, the son of Sophocles and Herecla Hazimarty. He came to the United States in 1925, settling in Brooklyn, N.Y. He married Mary Georgiou Dec. 25, 1927, in New York City. Mr. Hazimarty owned a series of restaurants through the years in New York and Norfolk. He moved to Norfolk in 1942 and retired from the restaurant business in 1975. In 1990 he moved to Mason City to be near his son, Dr. S.D. Marty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Jordan and Costas; and one sister, Elizabeth.
Survivors include his son, Dr. Sophocles D. and wife Rachel Marty of Mason City, Iowa; daughter, Theodora and husband Dr. John Scarola of Brookville, Long Island, N.Y.; brother, Socrates and wife JoAnne Martys of Canandaigua, N.Y.; sister, Sophia of Cyprus; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held today. Major Erikson Funeral Home, Mason City, Iowa, is in charge. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16. Memorials may be made to Greek Orthodox Church of Transfiguration.
