LUESTHER HOPSON

Luesther Hopson, 60, of the 1100 block of Alcindor Ave., a retired dietary supervisor, died Dec. 8, 1994, in Sentara Leigh Hospital, Norfolk.

Mrs. Hopson was born in Elizabethtown, N.C., and was retired from the Lafayette Villa Nursing Home after 23 years. She was a member and Usher of Faith Fellowship Community Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and member of the Nurses Unit and Flower Club.

Survivors include her husband, Charles D. Hopson; a daughter, Dora E. Brooks of Reston, Va.; five sisters, Ileene Gruber of Chesapeake, Allie Robinson of Elizabethtown, N.C., Margie Mason of Harrisburg, Pa., Ruby Butler of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Lillian Carty of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five brothers, Otis Edwards, Lloyd Edwards, Thomas Edwards, Dallas Edwards and Obie Edwards, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends; mother-in-law, Jewel Hopson of Columbus, Ohio; son-in-law, Kenneth F. Brooks of Reston, Va.; and special grand-niece, Shaleia Gruber.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial United Methodist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. T.J. Twiddy. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth. The body will be taken to the church at noon Friday.
