Charles E. Raley, 77, of the 1400 block of Boxwood Drive, a retired sheet metal worker, went to be with the Lord Dec. 13, 1994.
Mr. Raley was a native of Equality, Ill. He was retired from the Naval Ammunition Depot, St. Julien's Creek, and was retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years. He was a member of Westhaven Church of God, Portsmouth; Fleet Reserve Branch M.A.L., Washington, D.C., Police Association of Virginia, National Association of Radiation Survivors, and was a veteran of World War II and Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Verline J. Raley; two sisters, Eloise Chamberlain of Herod, Ill. and Joy Guynn of Eldorado, Ill.; and a brother, James F. Raley of Eldorado.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Mark S. Hambrick and the Rev. Frank Allen. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to Westhaven Church of God.
