Swannie Bray Smith, 91, died Dec. 14, 1994, at Maryview Nursing Care Center.
Born in Pasquotank County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Della Harris Bray and Benjamin F. Bray. Mrs. Smith was the widow of Roscoe Lee Smith. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, N.C.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara S. Pardo of Portsmouth; a son, James M. Smith and daughter-in-law, Jeannine K. Smith of Charlotte County, Va.; a son-in-law, Fred W. Alexander of Carrollton, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Laurine B. Garrett of Virginia Beach; a brother, Lemuel Bray of Elizabeth City, N.C.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her daughter, Bettie S. Alexander.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Brian C. Hobden, Rector, St. John's Episcopal Church and the Rev. Charles A. Moore, Pastor, Warfield Baptist Church. The family will be at 4924 Briarwood Lane, Portsmouth. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling arrangements.
