Portsmouth firefighters extinguished a fire at the London Boulevard

Inn, at London Boulevard and Broad Street, on Wednesday morning. The

fire, reported at 9:40 a.m. and believed to have started in a

mattress, damaged two rooms and caused smoke and water damage

elsewhere in the two-story motel. The occupant of the room where

the blaze started was not in at the time of the fire. Damage was

estimated at $10,000; the cause of the fire is being investigated.
