Regarding ``Know before saying no'' (editorial, Dec. 7): What do you presume that COP - Citizens Opposing the Prison - does not KNOW? That Northampton County needs economic growth?
What do you know that makes you think this is good for the Eastern Shore? Do you know that Northampton County has turned down other economic growth because it would have too much impact on the environment, including a bike trail through some of the most beautiful coastal areas of the East Coast?
Do you know that other coastal states don't put prisons on their coasts because it deters tourism? Do you really think a maximum-security prison will hire many of the ``up to one-tenth'' of the unemployed?
You are right: There is a lot we don't know. I suggest we all become more informed about the Shore and what impact placing a maximum-security prison in that area would have.
