Julia S. McCain, 79, died Friday, December 16, 1994 at her home. She was born in Fluvanna County and had been a Peninsula resident for the past 77 years. A member of Orcutt Baptist Church, she was active in the Women's Missionary Union of the church.
She was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Ethel Jones Sheldon and the widow of Hugh A. ``Dick'' McCain. She was preceded in death by her foster son, Thomas Judson Jones and is survived by her daughter and son in law, Janice McCain and Fred L. Rose of Chesapeake; a brother, William B. Sheldon of Newport News; a daughter in law, Delores H. Jones; grandchildren Bryan D. Rose, Jennifer Rose Mobley, Blake D. Rose and Thomas J. Jones, Jr.; and a great- grandchild, T. J. Jones, III.
A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Monday in Orcutt Baptist Church by Rev. James M. Doyle. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Peninsula Funeral Home.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Orcutt Baptist Church.
