EVERETT K. WASHINGTON

Everett Knox Washington of the 600 block of Goff St., was born in Norfolk, Va., on Jan. 25, 1917 and departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 17, 1994, in Metropolitan Hospital in New York City.

Mr. Washington was the son of the late Ernest Westley and Elijah Knox Washington. He attended the Norfolk public schools. He was employed at Norfolk Shipbuilding & Drydock for a number of years. Eventually he ventured to New York City, where he met and married Alberta Spain of South Carolina. There were no children born to this marriage. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Alberta.

He was employed by New York University, where he retired after 35 years of faithful service. He leaves to mourn two sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Bray of Norfolk and Mrs. Shirley Mosley of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and one brother-in-law, George Bray. He also leaves to mourn a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Graves Funeral Home by the Rev. Anthony Moses. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
