Eva R. Gay, 78, of the 100 block of Lloyd St., died Dec. 20, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mrs. Gay was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Wright Rouchlack and Arizona Rouchlack. She was retired from Planters after 62 years. She was a member of St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church, the Missionary Board, Church Mother, YPWW, Pastor's Aid, Senior Choir, president of the Youth Choir and Youth treasurer.
Survivors include her husband, Deacon Early Gay Sr.; three daughters, Eva A. Daniels, Daisie L. Hall, Marie L. Rountree, all of Suffolk; four sons, Vice Bishop Early Gay Jr. and Elder Ashley Gay Sr., both of Suffolk, Frank T. Gay and Elder Edward Gay, both of Philadelphia; two sisters, Marie Mouling of Fort Washington, Md. and Lennie Gilmore of Philadelphia; two brothers-in-law, Bishop Thomas Mouling of Fort Washington and John R. Gay of Conway, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Gay of Suffolk and Worley Gay of Conway, N.C.; two sons-in-law, Overseer Bailey Hall and John Daniel, both of Suffolk; four daughters-in-law, Eudia M. Gay, Evelyn Gay, both of Suffolk, Viola Gay and Leona Gay, both of Philadelphia; one niece, Bertha McDonald of Fort Washington, Md.; 35 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday in St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church by Overseer Bailey Hall Jr. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A wake will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church, 218 N. Division St., Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
