A new shopping center can be built beside two private residences in this northern Outer Banks town, Dare County commissioners decided this week.
Scarborough Lane Shoppes, which includes retail shops and a 34-seat restaurant, will be built at the corner of N.C. Route 12 and Scarborough Lane.
If Phase Two of the project is approved later, the shopping center would encircle two private homes.
Commissioners approved the project by a 4-3 vote, with Sammy Smith, Shirley Hassell and Joseph ``Mac'' Midgett voting against awarding a conditional use permit for the shopping center. by CNB
