Six of the seven people left homeless from Thursday's rooming-house fire have been given temporary housing by the American Red Cross.
The fire, started by an unattended space heater, destroyed the frame structure in the 800 block of Reservoir Avenue. One fireman received burns. No one else was injured.
Mike Wheeler, a Red Cross spokesman, said the organization contacted the residents on the scene. One had a place to stay, and the others have been housed in a local motel for the weekend.
The victims' three next-door neighbors, whose utilities were cut off temporarily, were housed for the evening, Wheeler said.
