Edward D. Woodard Sr., 85, of Noble Street, a retired truck driver, died Dec. 22, 1994, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mr. Woodard was born in Portsmouth. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 32 years and was a member and deacon of New St. Thomas Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances D. Woodard; five daughters, Audrey Lord, Doris Booker, Constance Council, Sylvia Boston and Beverly Blount; three sons, Edward D. Woodard Jr., Richard Woodard and Dennis Woodard; a sister, Edith Carlbello of Virginia Beach; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters; two stepsons; a loving nurse, Marcia Dailey; and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday at New St. Thomas Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Theodore Myrick Jr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Corprew Funeral Home where the family will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday for the procession to the church.
