Wadel Ann Owen Stamper, of the 500 block of N. Witchduck Road, a food service cashier and beloved mother, died Dec. 22, 1994, in Bayside Hosptial.
She was a native of Lawrence, Mass., and was employed with the Virginia Beach Public School System. She attended St. Gregory's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Willie S. Stamper; three daughters, Barbara A. Temple, and husband Robert, of Rome, N.Y., Nancy J. Shelburne, and husband R. David, of Norfolk, and step-daughter, Mary J. Adams, and husband Monty, of Chesapeake; four sons, Jerry T. Hallal, and wife Kathy, of Virginia Beach, John M. Gordon of Virginia Beach, stepson, Willie C. Stamper, and wife Cecelia, of Savannah, Ga., and stepson, James A. Stamper of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Isabelle Khoury, Alice D. Owen and Ann Shaheen, all of Lawrence, Mass.; three brothers, Alex Owen, and wife Rita, of Providence, R.I., Edmond Owen, and wife Florence, of Methuen, Mass., and Raymond Owen, and wife Suzanne, of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer L. and Robert D. Shelburne Jr., Bryan T., Chris, and Eric J. Hallal, and Stephanie Lynne and Emily B. Stamper; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Nicholas M. and Joseph Owen, and a sister, Adele Aoun.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by Fr. John Peck, O.S.B. and the Rev. Robert Lundquist. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Friends may join the family at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
