Herbert B. Alcox Sr., 91, of 2725 Shore Drive, a retired supervisor, died Dec. 25, 1994, in a local hospital.
Mr. Alcox was born in Pamlico County, N.C., and was a Protestant. He was retired from the Naval Supply Center. He was a 50-year member, chaplain emeritus and past master of Corinthian Masonic Lodge (NU)266, AF & AM; Scottish Rite Bodies; Khedive Temple AAONMS; and charter member of the Knights of Mecca.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Brown Alcox; four daughters, Joyce M. Coleman of Lynchburg, Va., Mary Ann Davidson and Leona Vinson, both of Virginia Beach, and Alverta Jarmen of Chesapeake; a son, Herbert B. Alcox Jr. of Virginia Beach; a brother, Joseph H. Alcox of Riddings, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with Masonic rites will be accorded at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Warren Chapman. The family will be at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today and at the residence at other times. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, c/o Khedive Temple, 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, Va. 23320, or to a favorite charity.
