POLICE SEEK WELL-DRESSED MAN IN STRING OF NORFOLK CRIMES

A man dressed in a suit and tie robbed the same Junior Market twice on Tuesday and then escaped on a bicycle. And police believe the same man may be responsible for at least nine other robberies since Aug. 20.

On Wednesday, police released a photograph of the man taken by a security camera.

The Junior Mart in the 3200 block of Cromwell Road was robbed at 2:30 p.m. and again at 8:30 p.m., police spokesman Larry Hill said. The robber entered the store, implied that he had a gun and demanded money from a clerk, Hill said. Each time, the man took a pack of Newport cigarettes.

Hill said the man followed a similar pattern at each robbery.

The robber is described as black, dark-skinned, 38 to 40 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 170 pounds. He has a mustache and graying hair.

On Tuesday afternoon he was dressed in a black and gray full-length tweed coat and a Kangol-style hat. That night, he was wearing a black, two-piece suit, white shirt, red and black tie and a black brimmed hat. He may be riding a bicycle, police said.

Police believe the robber's first target was the 7-Eleven in the 3200 block of Chesapeake Blvd. It was robbed on Aug. 20. Since then, the same man may have robbed a Kentucky Fried Chicken, an Exxon service station and a Miller Mart, all located along East Princess Anne Road.
