Authorities were still sorting out the details this morning after state and local police and bomb squad members responded to a report that dynamite had been found in one of two cars involved in an accident after a high-speed chase.
Initially, police also had information that a hostage had been taken by someone involved in the accident.
The incident began about 7 a.m. on West Landing Road in the southern section of the city.
By 8:15 a.m. police had determined that there were no explosives and no hostages. Two men were in custody, however. Dozens of police cars and officers sealed off the area, and it remained inaccessible at 9 a.m.
It was unclear what sparked the original chase or whether police were involved.
