CLARENCE O. BELL, JR.

Clarence Oliver Bell Jr., 80, died Jan. 3, 1995, in a Charlottesville hospital. He was a former funeral director with Cox Funeral Home Inc. from 1934 to 1954. Mr. Bell then went to work part-time as a salesman for Boyd Buford Inc.

He was born in Norfolk, VA, and lived there until three years ago. He was recently a resident of Crozet, VA. He was the husband of the late Hazel Andrews Bell.

Mr. Bell was a member of Ghent United Methodist Church, Norfolk, and was a former Secretary of its Administrative Board. He was past president and treasurer of the Ghent Men's Bible Class and the Ghent Bible Class. He, also, was past president of the Optimist Club of Norfolk.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Bell Carter of Keswick, VA; a brother, Robert Channing Bell of Greensboro, NC; two granddaughters, Aimee Lanier Carter of Keswick and Mary Carter Knisley of Palmyra, VA; three sister in laws, Dorothy Andrews and Hazel Bell both of Virginia Beach and Elizabeth Andrews of Sarasota, FL.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday in Ghent United Methodist Church, Norfolk by the Rev. Harold E. Thornton. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday night from 7 to 8PM to receive friends. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Cox Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements.
