Marsha Potter Mainzer, 41, of Virginia Beach, beloved daughter of Anne Stout Cline, Virginia Beach, and Curtis Lee Potter, Columbia, Md., went to be with our Lord on Jan. 5, 1995. Marsha was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She will be sadly missed.
Ms. Mainzer was born in Norfolk, Va. She was the first woman police officer to serve on the Norfolk Police Force, retiring after being injured in the line of duty. She was later employed by the City of Portsmouth, Va., and retired from the position of Supervisor of Licenses and Permits.
Marsha was very involved in numerous activities at her workplace and outside as well. At her job she taught C.P.R., conducted aerobic classes, choreographing her own programs. She was a licensed real estate agent, and did TV and radio commercials. Marsha was also an avid gardener and did landscape designs. She enjoyed her life and challenged her illness with all her energy, with many frustrations and much pain along the way.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Independence Blvd., by the Rev. Bruce Minett of Bayside Baptist Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to D.E.S. Cancer Network, P.O. Box 10185, Rochester, N.Y. 14601. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
