I was disappointed to read that motorists complained about the Hampton Police Department doing its job (news, Dec. 31). I find it ironic that the people who would complain about the police letting crooks get away are the same people who complain when the crooks are caught.
Was Julian Riddick of Norfolk more upset about the safety of his child in his car or the inconvenience of the 90-minute wait?
We should praise, not criticize, the police for their relentless efforts to capture wanted criminals.
