Can the courtly, moderate former Gov. L. Douglas Wilder succeed at Rush Limbaugh's game? A Richmond radio station thinks so.
WRVA-AM (1140 on the dial), which carries Limbaugh's nationally syndicated show, plans to add a two-hour ``Doug Wilder Show'' on weekday mornings starting Wednesday, and may eventually offer it around the country, station manager Carl McNeill said.
``If the Republicans don't follow through very quickly on all the promises they made to America, then a person like Doug can shoot right to the top,'' McNeill said.
Wilder, who became the nation's first elected black governor in 1989, made brief runs for the Democratic nomination for president in 1992 and for the Senate as an independent last year. ILLUSTRATION: Doug Wilder
