L.D. Dick Diffee, 81, of the 8200 block of Carlton St., a retired chief petty officer, died Jan. 6, 1995 in Norfolk.
Mr. Diffee was born in Cato, Ark. He retired from the U.S. Navy and from Norfolk Naval Shipyard Shop 38. He was a life member of Norfolk Elks Lodge (NU)38 B.P.O.E., past president of Norview Lions Club and a member of Fleet Reserve Association Branch (NU)5.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Annabelle J. Diffee; a son, Richard D. Diffee of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Jeff Diffee of Waynesboro, Va., and Walter Diffee of North Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Diffee of Osmond Beach, Fla., and Catherine Castiglia of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. Clayton E. Crigger. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. A Lodge of Sorrow service will be conducted at the mausoleum by Elks Lodge (NU)38 B.P.O.E. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery.
