E. Leigh Carawan, 82, a retired sales clerk, died Jan. 9, 1995, in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Carawan was born in Norfolk. She retired from Smith & Welton department stores, was the widow of H.O. Carawan and was a Protestant.
Survivors include three daughters, Neva Bucher, Alma Larson and Paulette Prescott, all of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mary Wilson of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a brother, James Monroe Rhue of South Carolina; seven grandchildren; and two loving sons-in-law and many friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday and all other times at 5044 Sullivan Blvd., Virginia Beach. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
