Gordon Bennett Carraway Jr., 83, of the 2100 block of Abbey Road, died Jan. 16, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Carraway was born in Lenior County, N.C., and was a Baptist. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief warrant officer 4 after 30 years and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma C. Carraway; a son, Gordon B. Carraway III and daughter-in-law, Fay L. Carraway of Virginia Beach; a sister, Frances Moseley of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, John B. Carraway of Raleigh; a granddaughter, Charlotte Carraway of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Thomas.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
