Roxie Parker Parker, 84, died Monday, Jan. 16, 1995, in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A native of Gates County, she was the daughter of the late Henry F. and Mrs. Lula Ann Umphlett Parker. The retired Postmistress of the Roduco Post Office, she was a lifelong member of Cool Spring Baptist Church, its Women's Missionary Union and the Choir. She was a member of the Gatesville Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vivian Milteer Parker.
Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn Gough of Winton; one son, Edmond M. Parker of Ahoskie; three sisters, Mary Luke and Velma Askew, both of Suffolk, Va., and Julia Whaley of Elizabeth City; one brother, William T. ``Billy'' Parker of Eure; two grandchildren, Beverly Baker of Lithonia, Ga., and Mark Parker of Tappahannock, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Baker, Mary Margaret Baker and Larkin Taylor Parker.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Cool Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. Horace Culpepper and the Rev. Tommy Hayes. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and other times at the residence.
