Actor Whitman Mayo, best known for his portrayal of Grady on the television series ``Sanford and Son,'' has joined the Chancellor's Board of Advisers at Elizabeth City State University.
The year-old board, which now boasts 44 members from the business and entertainment worlds, was created to help ECSU raise funds and expand networking contacts for students.
Mayo announced he was joining the board during the annual alumni fund-raiser Sunday, Chancellor Jimmy R. Jenkins said. Last month ECSU announced it had brought another actor, Clifton Davis, aboard as interim vice chancellor for development.
Jenkins said ECSU will ``unveil a major, star-studded master plan'' within a month that will lay out how a host of celebrities will help the university. by CNB
