William H. Council, 46, of the 6900 block of W. Fayetteville Road, died Jan. 17, 1995, at his residence after a short illness.
A native of Nansemond County, Va., he was the son of the late James Council and Sarah B. Council. He was employed at Arko Co. of Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Stella L. Council; two stepdaughters, Denene Butts of Newport News, Va. and Venella Boney of Virginia Beach; one granddaughter, Morgan Boney; three sisters, Margaret Oropela of Manhattan, N.Y., Ella Lynch and Marion Sykes, both of Suffolk, Va.; three brothers, Charles Council of Richmond, Phillip Council and Ronald Council, both of Suffolk; an aunt, Lucille Evans of Suffolk; and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Marshall Newsome Mortuary, 1410 Highway 138, Riverdale, Ga. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill, 1105 Hosier Road, Suffolk, Va., conducted by the Rev. Lemuel Greene. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, is in charge. The family will assemble at 214 S. Lloyd St., Suffolk, for the procession to the church.
