Union Camp Corp., citing strong demand for paper and packaging said Thursday that its fourth-quarter earnings more than tripled from the levels of a year earlier, as strong demand for paper and packaging enabled the industry to raise prices. The New Jersey-based company operates a fine paper mill in Franklin. It made $58.3 million, or 83 cents a share, up from $17.6 million, or 25 cents a share, in the last quarter of 1993. Sales rose to $922.2 million from $793.8 million. For the year, the firm made $113.5 million, or $1.62 a share, on $3.4 billion in sales, compared with $50 million, or 72 cents a share in 1993.
