Reading Anne Smith's letter (``Don't pay federal retirees,'' Jan. 10), I felt betrayed. She mainly focused her attention on the military and how we take advantage of being stationed here in Virginia.
Military men and women are in Virginia for a reason, to keep Anne Smith and her family, Virginia and the entire United States free and secure. We don't ask to be stationed here. We are put where our country needs us most.
