A 73-year-old woman died Wednesday night after an electrical fire destroyed her home, fire officials said.
Ethel P. Rawles had been asleep when the fire began, about 11 p.m., in her home in the 200 block of Cavalier Blvd. When firefighters arrived, they found Rawles lying unconscious on the floor beside her bed. No one else was in the house during the fire.
Rawles was taken to Maryview Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.
The cause of the fire was thought to be an electrical wire that either shorted out or overheated.
