At least five people were injured Sunday in two separate chain-reaction accidents on the westbound bridge of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel.
A total of seven vehicles collided at 1:30 p.m., according to a spokeswoman at the bridge-tunnel. The accident tied up the westbound lanes on Interstate 64 for more than an hour, according to the state police, with traffic backed up for about four miles, from the entrance to the westbound tunnel to the entrance ramp for Interstate 564. The eastbound lanes were unaffected by the accident.
Four of the injured were taken to Hampton General Hospital, where a nursing supervisor said no one was seriously injured.
