Part of county Route 614 has been closed to through traffic because the Ducks Swamp bridge on 614 is being rebuilt, the Virginia Transportation Department has announced.
The road, River Run Trail - between U.S. 258 and county 648 in the southern end of the county between Southampton County and the Suffolk city line - and the bridge are expected to be closed for about three months while the bridge is being replaced, said MacFarland Neblett, the department's Suffolk-based resident engineer.
``We regret to inconvenience the traveling public,'' Neblett said in a news release, ``but it is necessary to close this road to rebuild the bridge.''
The detour route will be clearly marked, he said. ILLUSTRATION: STAFF Map
