GO, ISAAC! ANOTHER RICKS STEPS IN TO GUIDE WINDSOR'S DUKES.

THE WINDSOR DUKES basketball team suffered a big blow before the season even started when Jerome Ricks went down with a knee injury at the end of football season.

Ricks, an all-district point guard last season, was expected to guide this young team, but now another Ricks, Isaac, has assumed that role, and Windsor head coach Steve Edwards has no complaints.

``He has taken on that burden himself and done a great job,'' Edwards said.

Isaac Ricks scored 22 points in the Dukes' 84-76 come-from-behind win over Tri-Rivers District foe New Kent Friday night and he did it without the guidance of Edwards.

Edwards was home with the flu and left the team in the hands of assistant Mike Crocker.

``The kids know what to do, so I wasn't too worried about the outcome,'' Edwards said. ``I wasn't home agonizing about it.''

In fact Edwards was too sick to even think about the game until Crocker called him with the final score.

The Dukes were down by eight with just more than four minutes to play when Ricks and Reggie Nichols, who also tallied 22 points, upped the pressure and sparked the team to a 16-point turnaround. ILLUSTRATION: Staff photos by MICHAEL KESTNER
