I am and have been a Republican all of my life. I have voted in all presidential elections and most of the other elections since I turned 21 in 1951. I am a U.S. Navy veteran of more than 30 years.
Ollie North was the GOP State Central Committee's choice for presidential candidate in the past election. I did not vote for him nor would I ever vote for him, and obviously he was not the choice of other Virginia voters.
I think the way that GOP Chairman Patrick McSweeney snubbed Sen. John Warner at the meeting in Charlottesville earlier this month is totally outrageous. To have Mr. North at the head table and not even acknowledge Senator Warner's presence was a disgrace.
I certainly hope the GOP replaces McSweeney very soon and becomes a unified group again. McSweeney does not represent the majority of the people of Virginia.
