A headline in Wednesday's Metro News section erroneously stated,
``Portsmouth chief seeks to placate angry gun dealers.'' As stated
in the story, it is the Norfolk police chief, Melvin High, who has
proposed a compromise over a new council-approved background check
on handgun buyers.
Rev. Anthony C. Paige of First Baptist Church of Lamberts Point,
Norfolk, headed a group from Hampton Roads protesting riverboat
gambling. His name was misspelled in a story Wednesday.
The Portsmouth City Council will invite public comment on a
contract to lease Sleepy Hole Golf Course on Tuesday at 4 p.m. An
article Wednesday gave an incorrect time.
A line was dropped in Wednesday's Daily Break story about an
Admirals fan with muscular dystrophy. The last paragraph on the
section front should have said, ``Justin's wheelchair is adorned
with Admirals stickers and pins. Each time the Admirals score, he
sets off a spinning red light on his wheelchair, similar to the
light on the goal judge's box.''
Former Defense Secretary Les Aspin's name was misspelled in a
caption Wednesday with a story on military strategy.
