George Lee Story Sr., 69, of 26396 Howells Corner died Thursday Feb. 2, 1995 at Sentara Norfolk General. Mr. Story was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and was the widower of Ruby Gardner Story. He had retired from St. Regis Paper Co. after 47 years and was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, R. Faye Story of Franklin and Mary S. Griffin of Capron; three sons, George L. Story Jr., Nelson G. Story and Hunter K. Story, all of Franklin; one sister, Susie Lee King of Franklin; five grandchildren, Amy Todd Story, Janelle Story, Dana Futrell, William Griffin, and Amber Griffin; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Story was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Mattie Mack Story, one sister, Nannie Mae Vick and one brother, Ashby Story. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 1995, at Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
