After watching Clinton's State of the Union address, one would think Clinton holds a ``BS'' in communications.
Now, all of a sudden, welfare reform is a top priority. Clinton proclaimed that in 1988 he assisted Reagan on the biggest welfare-reform bill ever introduced to Congress. He boasted that he has counseled hundreds of welfare recipients. If this is true, why is the welfare system still so abused? Moreover, why did it take a newly elected Republican Congress to address the issue?
Clinton did say one unsurprising thing. I knew he could not address the nation without giving his ever-so-pathetic but consistent claim that the rich became richer and the poor became poorer during the '80s. I just hope that some of his better suggestions, such as cutting bureaucracy, were not just political rhetoric.
