NON-CHRISTIAN SICK OF CHRISTIAN MEDDLING

I read the article on the Christian Coalition's plans to back a congressional attempt to ban abortion. What next, ban contraception? These are the same groups of people who don't want to require maternal leave in the workplace. These are the same people who want women to stay at home. Is it just me, or am I seeing a pattern here that has nothing to do with saving babies?

When these parties speak of ``family values,'' they obviously mean Christian values. What do they expect a young girl to do when she is told she's evil, an embarrassment to her family and her church and that her child is a bastard for being born out of wedlock? There are those of us who feel that Christian morality is physically, psychologically and spiritually oppressive.

I'm tired of reading bible quotes in the paper, watching constant Christian input on TV, and slamming my door on the countless Christian ``salespeople'' peddling their church on my porch.

As a joyous non-Christian with a strong and beautiful faith in the Divine, I am sick of Christian meddling.

And regarding the comment from the Christian Coalition condemning the abortion-clinic murders: I find those terrible acts to be historically very typical of those who follow the teachings of the New Testament. But then, again, maybe I'm the only one who knows about the Inquisition.
