A comment about the plan by the administration of James Madison University to abolish the physics department concerns me (news, Jan. 25). History Professor Caroline T. Marshall states, ``If you start abolishing higher learning, you condemn the school to vocational status.''
As an educator, I believe that all schools must be vocationally oriented since the goal of all education is to prepare students for the workplace.
