CRIME REPORT

DISTRICT A

Arson: 6000 block Bradford Drive, Jan. 26, someone entered a vacant residence by kicking in the side door and set a fire inside the refrigerator.

Grand larceny: 4400 block Armstrong Ave., Jan. 27, someone removed the lock and handle off the front kitchen door and entered a vacant house. Removed were one set of World Book encyclopedias, one oil heater, one window air conditioning unit, three kerosene heaters, one radio/CD player, one RCA VHS VCR and one boy's 20-inch bicycle.

Breaking and entering (church): 6300 Townpoint Road, Jan. 31, someone pried open the office door and removed a VCR valued at $225.

DISTRICT B

Petit larceny: Blair Brother Road, Jan. 26, someone removed three state inspection decals from three vehicles.

Breaking and entering (shed): 100 block Poplar Grove Crescent, Jan. 29, someone forced open shed door attached to residence. Nothing removed.

Hit and run (personal injury): Portsmouth Boulevard/Downtown Exit, Jan. 30, someone swerved into the victim's lane and struck his truck, causing him to run off the road on the left hand side.

DISTRICT C

Petit larceny: 500 block Smith St., Jan. 26, someone removed a 24-inch Huffy, 10-speed mountain bike. Bike was black with green cables.

Grand larceny: 400 block Jackson Road, Jan. 26, two men entered a parked vehicle and removed a black, full length coat and a gold purse containing $110, several credit cards and personal papers.

Armed robbery: 100 block West Washington St., Jan. 27, two men entered store and displayed handguns, demanding money from the cash register. As they fled, a handgun was fired.

Hit and run (personal injury): 200 block Pine St., Jan. 28, a person was struck by a brown/beige 67-75 Ford pickup truck which then fled the scene without stopping.

Breaking and entering (garage): 900 block Brook Ave., Jan. 30, someone took a Black & Decker drill valued at $184.50 and assorted hand tools valued at approximately $52 were removed from an unlocked garage.

Breaking and entering (shed): 100 block Lee St., Jan. 31, someone removed the lock on a shed at the back of a residence. He was discovered and fled the scene.

Breaking and entering (trailer): 500 block South Broad St., Feb. 1, someone entered a storage trailer at a construction site and removed one Coleman generator.

DISTRICT D

Petit larceny: 200 block Spruce St., Jan. 26, someone entered a residence by forcing open the door and removed carpet.

Breaking and entering (house): 700 block Spruce St., someone gained entry through the back door (already broken from previous burglary) and removed an assortment of jewelry, clothing and tapes valued at $1,200.

Breaking and entering (house): 300 block Forest Oak Lane, Jan. 26, someone broke the dead bolt on the front door of a home between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Grand larceny: 300 block Mill St., Jan. 27, someone pried open the battery compartment on a school bus and removed two batteries.

Breaking and entering (house): 800 Dill Road, Jan. 27, someone entered a residence through an unlocked window and removed one 19-inch color TV.

Motor vehicle theft: 600 block Chisholm Lane, Jan. 29, someone started vehicle, a 4-door, 92 Nissan Stanza and then went back inside the house. When the owner returned, the vehicle was gone from the driveway.

Petit larceny: 500 block East Constance Road, Jan. 29, someone removed two steaks from grocery store without paying for them.

Hit and run (property, church): 100 block County St., Jan. 31, someone driving a gray, 4-door Oldsmobile attempted to make a U-turn and struck the west side steps, then left the scene.

Breaking and entering (house): 1100 block Nansemond Parkway, someone entered a house through the back door and removed one 9mm pistol, one semi-automatic .22 caliber gun, one semi-automatic .25 caliber gun, one double-barrel shotgun, one Packard-Bell computer, one camcorder, one VCR, one lawnmower, one boy's 15-speed bike, fishing rods, one vacuum cleaner and one diamond ring.

Breaking and entering (shed): 1100 block Nansemond Parkway, someone forced entry into an aluminum shed and removed a toolbox containing numerous Craftsman brand tools along with a Black and Decker electric drill and drill bits as well as a boy's 20-inch black and gray bike.

DISTRICT E

Petit larceny: 1500 block Holland Road, Jan. 29, someone took $4 worth of kerosene without paying for it.

DISTRICT F

Vandalism: 500 block Kilby Shores Drive, Jan. 31, someone damaged a vehicle by pelting it with rocks. ILLUSTRATION: SUFFOLK CRIME LINE

Detective J.D. Bangley seeks help to find the two black males

involved in the armed robbery of Joseph P. Hall Drug Store, 121 W.

Washington St., on Jan. 27.

The suspects entered the store's rear door and went to the cash

register area. They demanded money, and both pointed handguns at the

clerk.

The suspects were described as:

A black male, in his mid-20s, 6 feet tall, 165 pounds, wearing a

black, hooded jacket.

A black male, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, wearing a black, hooded

jacket.

As the men left the store, a shot was fired. One of the suspects

may have grazed himself when the gun discharged.
