Two Hampton Roads broadcast veterans have purchased a 90 percent stake in Delmar Communications Corp., a Richmond-based television and video production company. Terms weren't disclosed.
F. Gray Kiger Jr. and L. Edward Tillett III, the buyers, have become chairman and president, respectively, of the company. Tillett, as chief executive, will be in charge of day-to-day operations.
Kiger was chief financial officer for Virginia Beach-based TVX Broadcast Group Inc. TVX owned a chain of TV stations before being acquired by Paramount Communications Inc. in 1990. Kiger and former TVX colleagues continued investing in other broadcast properties after that sale. One of the companies in which Kiger had an interest recently sold Fox Broadcasting station WTVZ-TV of Norfolk for $48 million to Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. of Baltimore.
Tillett has 18 years' experience in radio and TV. He has worked as a weatherman for WAVY-TV in Portsmouth, and as a TV and radio personality for WHRO, Hampton Roads' public broadcasting affiliate.
Delmar, which has 12 employees, produces various broadcasting, cable, corporate and commercial videos and films. Its clients include James River Corp., Owens & Minor Inc., Reynolds Metals Co., all based in Richmond, and Freedom Ford, a Norfolk dealership. by CNB
