Josie H. Hogge, 59, died on Thursday, Feb. 9, 1995.
She was a native of Dinwiddie and a Peninsula resident most of her life.
Mrs. Hogge was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fox Hill and served on the council of ministries. She was active in the church's baby-sitting program. She was a Girl Scout for 31 years, holding all local positions, as well as a leader of Troop (NU)1144.
She is survived by her husband, Howard B. Hogge Jr.; her daughter, Katherine Lee Hogge of Newport News; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Edward and Elizabeth Hogge of Portsmouth; three sisters, Jean Pickin and Peggy H. Horsley, both of Hampton and Dola Mae Mullen of Chester; her brother, Ronald E. Hite of Los Angeles; one granddaughter, Tami Jo Welch; and one great-granddaughter, Brooke Consolvo.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Peninsula Funeral Home by the Rev. Kenneth W. Newsome. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Fox Hill Building Fund.
