The city Planning Commission wisely deleted specific references to riverboat gambling when it approved the Vision 2005 plan as part of the city comprehensive plan.
Not only did the proposal as submitted by city staff imply endorsement of the gaming complex on the waterfront south of City Hall. The proposal, prior to the alteration, also could limit possible customers for the waterfront land by companies not interested in gaming operations.
The Planning Commission's action of dropping the specific reference should make the plan more acceptable to those wary of gambling operations. by CNB
