ROBERT BARNES

Robert ``Bob'' Barnes, 47, a native of Powellsville, N.C., died Feb. 12, 1995, at noon in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Barnes was retired from the Chesapeake School System and was a math teacher at Western Branch High School. He also taught at Tidewater Community College, Frederick Campus. He was twice elected from the student body as Teacher of the Year at Western Branch.

Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Dee Jewett of Lebanon, Pa., Mrs. Judy Jones and Mrs. Florence Powell, both of Powellsville, N.C. and Mrs. Darlene Casteloe of Windsor, N.C.; three brothers, Phillip Barnes of Suffolk and Roy and Ralph Barnes, both of Powellsville; five nieces and 11 nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie. Burial will be in Stoney Creek Cemetery, Powellsville, N.C. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
